You can't judge a book by it's cover. But you can DEFINITELY judge a person by what they're reading.

THE TRAVEL ALMANAC
#1, 2011
Editor & Design: Paul Kominek, John Roberts & Tableaux Argentes, Berlin
Clean and simple design, paired with using old sourced German paper stock and a running layout theme of the colour green provide a successful recipe for the first issue of TTA.
'Conversational' interviews with David Lynch, Javier Peres of Peres Projects, Andy McCluskey and 'moments' with Terence Koh, James Murphy (LCDSS) and Rinko Kawauchi are also found inside.
A friend had mentioned yesterday that it was the first magazine lately that he's read completely, and too right!! Finding a good mag is exciting but damn, it usually ends up in the bookshelf once another distraction comes along. I read this in one go too, the text is large and the knowledgeable content is a pleasure to read. But more importantly, it's a keeper to revisit in a few weeks or years. Ever-relevant, baby baby.

COS Autumn/Winter 2011 Lookbook
Editor & Design: Jop Van Bennekom &
Including articles featuring Konstantin Grcic, Tuva Novotny and Maureen Paley, it seems a magazine in itself, complimenting Cos's A/W2011 collection. The selection of coloured pages throughout is notable too - pantone and pastel flavours contrasting the clothes.
AND Including a complimentary art multiple poster print by Channa Horwitz.
Who would've thought it for a collection lookbook? Genious- pulled off well.

Vitra furniture are truly forward-thinkers, pairing their genuine desire for visually appealing and functional objects with a generous nature for the home. It's no wonder these established creators naturally align and involve themselves with the pieces too.
The books design is memorable.
Consistent selection of fonts and colours, complimenting the white-themed pages and incredible imagery.

ALA CHAMPFEST
#1 The God Bless, Cut & Paste Issue
Design: Champ Studio / Prince Vince & Sookie Sookie
2009
With our upcoming Issue 4 this month, it's still so good to revisit the first print. The design is alright, and the content is still just as amazing and uncompromised. Jose Parla, Rip Zinger, Kill Pixie/Mark Whalen, and the CTRS feature.
I still absolutely love it two years on. (ofcourse!))!

TYPO MAG
Typography in Magazine
Editor: Laura Meseguer
Publisher: Index Books, Barcelona
2010
All about editorial design, this is such a good reference for font and design referencing for some of the favourites. Monocle, Pin-Up, Slanted, Mark, AR, Emigre, Futu and Sang Bleu amongst others.
Who's designing their pages and what fonts are they consistently using? It's a good look and critique at their growth and choices of design & layout.
Laura Meseguer's put together a great reference book for fellow editorial designers. It's a great analysis of which fonts work or don't work for a particular type of communication, or structure.
Picked up at: Lazy Dog, Paris
