CHRISTMAS IN JULY DAY SEVEN

today is the last day of this fun
Christmas in July Event
that my sweet and very talented friends hosted
Gisella
and
Nadia

i loved everyday of it. it was not one project that did not catch my attention on one detail or the other.
my husband and son are always complaining i take too long looking at things: when we go shopping i like to admire details and while they are done looking at the whole store they say i "still on the same aisle"--hehe
i admire beauty, what can i say? i enjoy it and try to live my life the same way. despite the daily struggle, you always find "something" you can hang on to it and no matter what that "something" keeps you going until the next day and so on---

anyhow,
here is my project for today,
--my first ever--
Advent Calendar
i had many ideas and sketches on my gypsy but for lack of time i had to resource to pre-made embellishments.
nonetheless, i think it turned out very nice ;p

you have no idea how much i sweat trying to get this project on time. sweet gisella changed my uploading  time to give me extra minutes...thanks so much for such a nice gesture, gisella.
after trying a small box to put the pouches in, and a grape vine wreath too---i ended up hanging them on this ficus tree i have in my dining room. i used the removable glue dots for the job after trying mini clothespins. ;p

you can click on the pics for a bigger view if you want.

and this one collage is from some of the "more embellished" pouches.
i also thought of hanging them with regular clothespins on this wire i have on the closet doors in my craft-room, but the doors are blue and i had no time to move or hang another wire, but it is another thought for you and me.

hope you enjoy it and inspire to make it your own. just make sure you have plenty of time so you do not have to sweat the Christmas in July heat wave...hehe-- just a stupid joke, lol.
------------

Supplies:

Cricut Cartridges
---From my Kitchen: folders (green, red and yellow)
---Doodletype: white mats

K&Co:
holiday embellishments

Zig:
2 way glue

Glue Dots:
removable (to attach on tree)

Ink:
Ink it Up-Nicole

Additional supplies:
from my craftroom
--------------
when i used the "from my kitchen" cricut cartridge, i had in mind making regular file folders with their tabs. you see regular pouches because i cut the tab from them and rounded the corners with my round it all tool.
oh my!!!--totally different of what i had in mind, BUT---that is how most of the times my creative side works. :)

-----------------

Note:
my son just came back yesterday from their senior trip to ocean city maryland. they had a blast! we went out to eat to celebrate he was back home and that is another reason i was out of time. but, i couldn't pass the "eating out" offer since it was too hot to cook. ;p

Love you All

"PLAYING WITH SERENADE" by flowerdisco & friends

WO-HOO

Round #3 of
 Serenade
is here,
Yay!!!

This is image #16 and I made a birthday card for all the blogs out there whose birthdays are on September too.
Happy B-day
  is a 3.5" by 9' wide
They remind me of fern branches. The images have their layers but I decided not too use them after all. I cut them but they looked to bulky for what I had in mind. I inked them instead (what a surprise, uh?, lol.).
They are cut at 4.15 inches high and I just adhered the stems to that beautiful yellow paper from Cloud Nine. This way I added more of a realistic dimension in real life.
You can see it better on this photo.
The balloons are from a stamp set I have: Everything Happy. I stamped them onto the yellow patterned paper first and then on a scrap of purple, pink and green cardstock. I then cut them out and added just the top part to the stamped ones and popped just one with double the dose of mini Glue Dots. :)

That little bow is made with a leftover ribbon I used when I made the Card Holder for Robyn aka My Pink Stamper. The ribbon is from Target. And as you can see I need a bit more practice with them :)

Remember you can click on the photos for a bigger view.
The cake is from "From my Kitchen" and is cut at 2.75 inches high with all its layers.

The mini alpha stickers that make up the "happy b-day" phrase are from Making Memories as you might already know. I had them for a while and I finally got to use them again.

The cake was popped up with some American Crafts dots and some foam tape because I did not want to use all AC trying to save for another day, cheapo here!!!, lol. I rather call myself frugal ;-)

 Another view
(The green patterned paper for the branches is from K&Co, the cake was made with leftovers from the Halloween stack I used to make the milk carton and the shadow on the cake is American Crafts cardstock). A bit of stickles: Yellow, Cotton Candy, Lavender and Lime Green.

And FINALLY...the whole card here.
I hope you didn't get bored with me trying to explain everything :)
Now onto my friends projects.

Thanks

I have finally finished the Cookbook I was working on, PHEW!
LOL

I think Lisa#2 (not the one I am doing the Wild Card Cartridge cards with) is a bit apprehensive on posting her Cookbook photos so you will have to deal with mine :-) and know that I have worked very hard and that it's not perfect because I am still learning a lot and I made a few boo-boo's
but overall I think it came out pretty good.
I used many different techniques including inking, embossing, paper piecing, bling and a few more.

I am going to offer it for a Blog Candy including a few easy recipes and room for you to add yours too. I was going to take pix of the the recipes as I made them but I forgot every time :(. Anyway,
I will add a ribbon or twine on the wire binding for you to hang it on your kitchen wall if you desired. The winner will have to let me know of her/his preference.

Here are the photos. I made a few collages so you wouldn't have to look at so many pix at one time.

I will choose a winner from the followers who leave a comment on this post. If you are not a follower please become one so we learn together and please leave a comment to enter for the cookbook.
I will give some time since my blog is kind of new. I am thinking maybe 2 weeks and then I will randomly choose a name. I hope this sounds fair to all.

OOOps! I forgot the recipes...here is what I did.....

I hope you like it!

COOKBOOK COVER

I have been working on this project when I have the extra time and it's going painfully slow.
I manage to put some extra touches on the cover and I am happy with the results.
Instead the "peek" you had the other day you have now the full set of pix I just took this morning.
and...Since we are under another snow storm, and laundry is done, house relatively cleaned :), I am going to take time to start writing the recipes. Also, one thing I never did with the cricut (among many others, lol) is use the Center Point on the E. I want to try that today too. Let's see how it goes.

And some snow photos

Enjoy!

ON ANOTHER NOTE...

I will start another project soon with my other cyber friend Lisa. Lisa is not the same Lisa I have been making the Wild Cards with. Lisa I met at scrapbook dot com and she goes by the name of "miniscrapers". Lisa who I have been making the cards with might jump in too, if she has the time. I would love if she did. We are having fun doing the Wild Cards.

We will be using the "From My Kitchen" cartridge and we are making a cookbook.
We are thinking to make 10-15 everyday easy recipes with ingredients you already have in your pantry or you can buy at your regular grocery store.
I think I will be taking photos of my dishes and
as of right now I am not sure if we will swap the cookbook or not, neither the days I will be posting my pages but as soon as I know I will announce it in case you want to follow the progress.
