EEEEK!- A BITTEN BY THE BUG CHALLENGE

i just came back from boston last night. we went to see our son. he is loving it and he proudly showed us the neighborhood what he is calling home now :(
this post is late because i did not have the energy to work on it last night.
my apologies to the BBTB2 team for my delay and to you too for my tardiness.
this week we are working with hello kitty greetings and we are using image #43 on the overlay and page #70 on the handbook.

---this is my take on the challenge---

EEEEK!
5.75"
sweet kitty....she is always so cute.
this is a great cart!

the orange background was cut using cindy loo
it turned out gorgeous!
kitty was cut at 2.25 and the only cuts i used were the base and layer one for the face--no shift.

the bats are the negatives of a paper punch by martha stewart.
i layered them 4 times and then stickled them---(stickles=glitter glue)

the EEEEK! is from a my pink stamper set called spooky puns---a last year's release.
you can find it here---it has so many cute sentiments :) and where i stamped is the paper punch where i got the bats from, :D

and this is my kitty...she is too cute to spook. :P another sentiment from the spooky puns set but i already had cut the border and did not fit :(

join us in this challenge picked by my dear theresa---BBTB DT sister!
a great image to work with. if you do not have Hello Kitty Greetings, you can always use any other similar image for the challenge....NO EXCUSES! ------LOL.

NOTE: a reminder that if you want to be enter in my vulture (last weeks challenge) you have to let me know. i haven't received any entries.
you still have one more week to join the vulture challenge at BBTB2.

a HUGE thank you for stopping by,

YIKES!---A BITTEN BY THE BUG CHALLENGE

as a newbie for this

Bitten by the Bug team,
i was very surprised they gave me the opportunity to host this weeks challenge. i had to pick an image for the challenge and i chose the vulture from life's a party, page #28. i hope you like the image and if you do not have this cartridge you know you can use another "cute" bird as long as is as handsome as this one, lol.

Yikes!
3.5" x 5.5"
so handsome, he even lost an eye in a battle.
life's a party is another wonderful cricut catridge. you can find this awesome vulture on page@28 of the handbook and it is image #8 on the overlay. i cut him at 2.50" high.

you know i have been onto layering for thickness. i cut several layers and glue them together for thickness. i hope you can see it better on these two pictures. the bat is from another punch and glossy accents was added for details.

the card base is from from the same cart: image #18 on the overlay. the black frame around the embossed red cardstock i made it inserting a smaller layer inside the original, do i make sense? i hope i do :P

the grayish marbled base was a gray cardstock i inked to make it look like a marbled tombstone :-) the RIP is from happy hauntings (image #30 of the overlay) and the bottom flourish is the negative from the card layer. i tweak things around and not everything is "by the book".

the nice brick embossing is from a tim holtz embossing folder called "bricked". look at the details. it is a must have!
*****i will have one embossing bricked folder for a lucky winner who participates in this challenge. you have to let me know you entered the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2. i will go and look at it and next monday i will  post the person who won. you have 3 days to claim your prize.*****
---
now, i will show you the completed card.
------you can always click on the pictures for a greater view------

the inside was stamped with a my pink stamper stamp set called spooky puns. it is a set from last year. i purchased it this year so they still have it. you can click here to see what other stamps are in this set.

thank you so much for stopping by and i appreciate you participating in this week challenge.

you can click here to read about the BBTB challenge rules.

see you later!

WITCHY--- A BITTEN BY THE BUG CHALLENGE

HELLO
i have a new BLOG BUTTON not made by me this time, lol. i had chris from http://chatterscene-mom.blogspot.com/p/custom-blog-info.html made it for me. hopefully, you pay her a visit and see how beautiful her work is and how beautiful she can make your blog for a super very reasonable price. i did not want a blog makeover because i like to change things around a lot, but i did want a button that i can always use and that you can grab if you want to.

anyhow, this week at the Bitten by the Bug, we are working with a frog from create a critter, page #24.
let's play along!
this is my project using the cute froggie.
since the witches have already getting ready for their day, i wanted to make my frog fit for the occasion.

Witchy
3.5" x 6"
you might ask what kind of envelopes i use for these sizes...well, with the gypsy, i can maneuver the envelopes in some cartridges and customize them for my cards. ;D
purple is always so hard for me to photograph well, :(
the witchy epoxy circle just added the perfect touch for the spot and, gave me a name for the card. on the back, i just hot glued a piece of black dyed bias ribbon.
the spider web on the left is from october 31st, image #8 on the overlay and,
flipped to fit on the left side of my card. some of the web is behind the background paper.

this cardstock i used for the frog it was a plain cardstock which i stamped with purple ink to give it some substance. i am trying to play more with my stamps and this is a pretty example of what you can do with stamping.
the green bat on her necklace is the negative of a paper punch, i covered it with glossy accents for a bit more of bling.

the fancy right edge border is another paper punch from fiskars, and the orange and black beads i purchased on clearance last year after halloween for this halloween...thrifty/frugal/cheap/smart???...
whatever you want to call me, lol

this is the final card. i just love it so much and i hope you do too and give you a push to participate in this week challenge at Bitten by the Bug.

thanks so much for stopping by
and, next week is my turn to choose the image you will be working on the challenge. yay! you do not want to miss it, lol.

------------
NOW...it is my pleasure to announce the winner of last week Bitten by the Bug hop.
below is a reminder of the rules for the giveaway:

"i have a small giveaway and i will use random.org to choose for me.
you will have three days to claim your prize.

ok, i just had three entries and instead of using random i decided i will choose it myself. The winner is Diana L. she is one of my faithful followers.
sometimes it does pays to be a follower uh?, lol.
Thanks Diana for being such a sweet friend.

BITTEN BY THE BUG 2 BLOG HOP

WELCOME
to my little scraphut and welcome to our monthly

our challenge this week is the wheelbarrow from the Walk in my Garden cartridge.
You will find this image on page #107 and it is image #26 on the overlay.

Hello
5"x5"
square card
here is my cute wheelbarrow. i never used this cut and/or feature before. the feature is the "card" one but all you get is the front of the card. at least, that is what i got.  i made a base for it.

i hid the flowers centers with the gypsy hide contour because being so small i was just going to rip the thin paper i used. i added the tiny rhinestones instead. i can still tell they are flowers, :).
i messed up at the end while stamping hello. i decided to use embossing powder to hide it but, i couldn't set the powder right. you see? i already had the transparency attached on the window. it was warping on me...:(
as you can see i was not having a good day, lol
btw, the hello stamp is from my pink stamper and you can purchase the whole set HERE.
it is called spectacular sayings.
i got myself a pair of martha stewart fringe scissors ;Dand i used them today for first time. i made the grass where the little punched birdie stands still. loved using this scissors.

this tree is from hoot n' holler, image #11 on the overlay. i cut this tree at three inches but it comes out a bit taller because of the branches. the pretty butterflies are from another paper punch. i like to have paper punches with small images because they are easier than trying to cut them w/the cricut sometimes and, i can use tiny scraps of paper too. :D
if you take a closer look to the tree trunk you will see i stamped for a more realistic look.

and you can see i curled the leaves too.

this is my base for the front card. it is another 5"x5"piece of white cardstock which i scored at 1/2 inch and glued it to the front.

this is how it looks when opened. the back is the one that bends, not the front.

here is the completed card.
i want  to mention that the transparency used on the window is actually a clear plastic from the dollar stamps package ;p.

hope you like my card...this one is a first for me as i mentioned before.

i have a small giveaway and i will use random.org to choose for me.
you will have three days to claim your prize.
***the small print says you must participate in this BBTB challenge to be able to add your name for my giveaway.

now, it is time to keep hoping and i am listing the entire hop list in case you are a bit lost. you can start wherever you want but you might want to stop at all the blogs. :)

TIME 4 FUN---A BITTEN BY THE BUG CHALLENGE

welcome to another challenge hosted by
Bitten by the Bug 2.
last week i missed it but here i am now--:D.

this is what we were asked to do:
"I asked the designers to use the Time 4 Fun cut from the Cuttin' Up cart. I hope you like what they did!
As always, you are welcome to participate with us. If you don't have the Cuttin' Up cart, please feel free to use another cart with the same phrase or build one yourself. Please submit a new project for the challenge".

 Time 4 Fun
6.18 round card
my son was not the sporty kid but he did loved soccer and played every fall until middle school when he had to choose between soccer and marching band. :P he was very good at it and won a few trophies as a soccer player.
i was remembering when we moved here in 2005, and the first thing we did was look for a soccer team. now, he is in college and no soccer but still with his marching band. btw, he plays the saxophone.
this card is to commemorate his love for the sport at the time.

the card base is from Sports-Mania. these were his school colors, not the last team colors. those were blue and white. i like these colors better, lol.
the Time 4 Fun are from the cuttin' up cart we asked to used for this challenge.

below, you will see a few more takes of the same card.
i would love if you participate in this "Time 4 Fun", Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge. you do not have to own a cuttin' up cart. so many carts have fonts and you can make your own "Time 4 Fun" phrase. you will also get to see what my team-mates have created.
Click HERE to take a look.

see you tomorrow with another project but this time a
"My Pink Stamper" one.
we are using one of the newer stamps set:
SPOOK-A-LICIOUS.

SEE U LATER!

MISS YOU

MISS YOU-MISS YOU-MISS YOU

i miss my son so much it is heartbreaking :( and when we were asked to use this image, i thought let me make it to show how i am feeling right now.
my son is doing very well and BU had planned lots of events for their students, especially for their freshmen. this weekend was packed with different activities and i bet you he was having a blast :).
he has also decided to continue marching band, and on sunday he had his first rehearsal/meeting.
as we all know life goes on and i will do my best to keep myself busy. i still have lots to do in the house and that will help me--  :)

anyhow as, i said the
challenge for this week is the winged heart from rock princess. you can find it on page #44 of the handbook. i cut this heart at 2.18 using my gypsy.

Miss You
4.25" x 5.5"
the background is kraft paper textured with the fiskars crimper and inked dirty with black ink.
the spiders and the sentiment are from my pink stamper stamps. the splashes of blood are a dollar stamp. the wings were dry embossed.

the script paper is from martha stewart and it also already had the splashes of blood. you can see some on the heart but on the bottom strip and top left, were stamped on.

the border is from an EK paper punch called binding edge.

     please, come to the

clicking HERE
and have fun with us. you have to link your project there and when you post it on your blog don't forget to mention us. this will help others wanting to participate know where they have to go ;)

i will come back tomorrow with another project. hope you come back!

Love you all

SOMETHING YUMMY FOR YOUR TUMMY

 HELLO FRIENDS
send me a virtual hug so the emptiness from not having my son around does not affect me too much.
we lost power during Irene and encountered closed roads, closed bridges and by the time we got to Boston it was almost time for him to go to a meeting. Our good byes were too short. He started his community services (FYSOP) on Tuesday and he is working with disabled children. he moved a week earlier to participate in this program. we stayed one more day around the city in case we had time to have dinner with him but it was not possible.
in our way home it all hit me, but by the time we got home i was doing better. i had 6 hours to moan, lol.
--------------

the winner for the BBTB2 hop is
                             ----------craftymom205said...1
You added an apple. Love this project.

Congrats "craftymom205".
please, send me an email with your address.

Something Yummy for your Tummy
5.5" x 4.25"
hehe---i am not pregnant---hehe
it is just a card, lol. i used the Wrap it Up cart for this one.
the stork can be find on page #63 on the handbook and is image #43 on the overlay. it was cut at 4 inches.
the sun was hand-drew and the stork has 4 layers plus the patterned paper one.

the sentiment is from My Pink Stamper. It is in the Yummy-licious stamp set. the two asterisks are from Love-a-licious, also from My Pink Stamper (MPS). the foot border is also from My Pink Stamper--LOL--and is from the Sweet Baby clear stamp set.
i am telling you, you can mix and match her stamps and even make your own sentiments with them--wink! they are so versatile!!!!!

the background paper was purposely made to look wrinkle, :)
and i do not know if you can see the thickness of the stork and clouds on this pic. I am loving the thickness you can acquire with a few more cuts adhered together---awesome look!

this is the inside of the card and the sentiment is also from the Sweet Baby clear stamp set from My Pink Stamper.

Hope you like it and and got to see the versatility of these stamps. this set of YUMMY-LICIOUS is meant to be used mostly with food items, baking the most but you can use them for a totally different occasion as i did here with my card
"Something Yummy for your Tummy"
indeed.

----

here is a pic before the departure.
we had to get more bungee cords to pile up more totes on top :-) since the trunk was already full.

love you all!
soon i will be able to visit you too
i love to browse your blogs and see what you are up to.
wohoo!

BITTEN BY THE BUG 2 BLOG HOP

WOHOO!

another blog hop to enjoy. this time the hostess blog is

from the Heritage Cartridge we are using image #1---the cute "curly tree"

in any case, just hop to the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog and start from there and follow the instructions.

Autumn
8.5" x 4
long card
A10 size-i believe
the trees were cut at 3.5" and 3" using the shadow feature too.

this is the inside---just a piece of distressed paper to write your sentiment.

the border was made with a MS paper punch called "city escape" and the maple leaves are punched from a tiny punch from my stash.

here you can see how i used the border--

playing with saturation here---it almost look like art :)

have fun with the hop, enjoy it and enjoy the challenge. if you do not have this heritage cart, you can use any other tree.
i hope all of you are safe and no damage from Irene, the hurricane.

hugs to all and wish my boy the best in college.

love you all!

you can also click on the banner below to go to the start of the hop.
I will have a small giveaway for the  "FIRST" follower/visitor who tells me what else i added to this border, besides the leaves and the word autumn, there is something i added to have a bit of fun here.
you can always click on the pics to zoom in.
