We have global time, belonging to the multimedia, to cyberspace, increasingly dominating the local time-frame of our cities, our neighborhoods. Nothing is ever obtained without a loss of something else. What will be gained from electronic information and electronic communication will necessarily result in a loss somewhere else. If we are not aware of this loss, and do not account for it, our gain will be of no value. This is the lesson to be had from the previous development of transport technologies. The realization of high velocity railway service has been possible only because engineers of the 19th century had invented the block system, that is a method to regulate traffic so that trains are speeded up without risk of railway catastrophes. But so far, traffic control engineering on the information (super)highways is conspicuous by its absence.

-Paul Virillo

People become avatars, usernames, trolls flitting in and out of various environments at a speed so fast that the world is transformed, made into the speed of light. It doesn’t matter how fast you run, whether or not you catch the first train or the last, or if you make it from here to point X in 20 minutes or less because that which is happening in worlds we cannot see; worlds where tiny information packets travel along encoded passageways, certain intelligence finds its way to high security databases, and encrypted messages carry vital details on just how the next transaction should take place... is where all the things that run this planet are truly happening... so for whatever it’s worth, go with godspeed.

Happy "Boo-Day" and BBTB2 Blog Hop

Happy Halloween everyone and welcome to our Monthly Blog Hop for BBTB2. If you came from Susan's Blog you're on the right track. Our dear and fabulously talented Shelly chose either ghost cut from PDDU for this challenge, but I took some artistic license and used the one from Happy Hauntings instead. I was browsing my DS files and came across one called "Boo-day" that I'd done eons ago using the ancient Stamped (not to be confused with Stamping)cartridge. The sentiment was all that as there and I'd done it way before there was any "spooky" Halloween font available. I was originally thinking Halloween birthday, I guess, but actually, Halloween is sort of a "Boo-Day" in itself so I decided to go from there. Try as I might, the suggested cuts didn't work as well for my design so I opted for the others (and you can too, remember, we're easy at BBTB2).

It's my usual shaped front style, welded in DS. The "Happy" is also from the Happy Hauntings Cartridge and the entire mess is welded to the rounded rectangle from George. The inside mat is from my Halloween stash and set the tone for the color scheme. I'd planned to do something more colorful, but in the end I enjoyed the neutral theme. The rest of the DP is from the DCWV La Crema Stack and the ghosts were cut from old glitter paper from WalMart. The sweet little flocked ghosty brad is by Making Memories.

I've done my usual dimensional layers and am pretty pleased with how it came out. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and I'm hoping to snap out of it soon. Now hop along to Carri's Blog, but don't forget to leave a comment to be entered in my giveaway, a $40 gift certificate sponsored by Custom Crops. Check out their sale going on NOW with Cricut carts starting at $15.00! I'll be drawing the winner using Random Org on Saturday, November 5th. WooHoo! If you ever get lost along the way, hop back to BBTB2 to get yourself back on track and of course, we'd love to see your take on the challenge. Please link up a new creation using any ghost cut by Nov 13th to win our much coveted POW blinkie. Happy hopping, and have a wonderful, safe, Halloween.
I"m also just squeeking in on the ABC "B" is for Boo Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for the 2nd Annual Dia De Los Muertos Blog Hop!

Heinously Haunted Houses

It's the day we've all been waiting for! The Masterful Mistress and the Minions wish you a fabulously safe and spooky Halloween! Our challenge this week at HDH is Heinously Haunted Houses and there is a fabulous prize pack being offered by the Mistress herself so let's see some spooky stuff. I've merged two digi images from Make it Crafty, the Spooky House and Spooky Graveyard. I've colored them with Copics in neutral tones and used my Nesties Grand Creative Book Pages to cut both the image and the scalloped base. The hanging handle was cut with Nesties labels Ten and threaded with a hand cut banner. "Welcome" is spelled out with letters from the QuicKutz Haunted Mini Alphabet that works in your Cuttlebug, Big Shot, or Grand Caliber using the same sandwich you'd use for your Nesties. the entire piece was inked with Distress in Pumice Stone, Brushed Corduroy and Black Soot. The Minions will be taking a little break from our regularly scheduled challenges for the rest of the year, but you never know what might be brewing at HDH, so don't be strangers. In the meantime, go have a look at the fab inspiration HERE, and don't forget Wicked Wednesday when Creepy Glowbugg posts the winners and her amazing creation.

James Salaiz Ceramic Bullets

.

DSM held a special Open Day event a few weeks ago on October 13th, as a part of all the happenings in London's Frieze Art Fair.

On the Ground Floor, the AVAF display greets you as you walk in. Designed by Rei, the sculpture is covered in AVAF print. The Brazilian duo have some imagination - wacky, random and very, very colourful. You can see more of their work in their book AVAF Published by Rizzoli (also available in-store).

The Third Floor displays James Salaiz's Ceramic Bullets in their glass cabinets. These are beautiful, and much better in person than you can see here on the screen.
James himself is a super sweet New Yorker, and we were excited to see he has his works displayed in various CdG stores - well done.

 Note :
The Trading Museum in Paris has now closed its doors,as its presence there was temporary, but you can still find all the above Designers in DSM.

Ganryu is definitely something to check out.
We love the description above.

GANRYU
There are clothes for people who have a free mind and who are active with curiosity. And also for those who live everyday life with a positive attitude. Pop, avant-garde, basic, and being not Comme-des-Garcons-like. I believe all that makes Comme des Garcons.
!!!

.

Back to the Basement, the latest running collection by Undercover for Nike, is a welcome addition. The FA/HO 2012 collection of the Gyakusou range is displayed with a Japanese theme (ofcourse) and includes an iPad with a video of Running Monks on loop.

The collection will see your wallet getting lighter...  Simple in aesthetics, each piece has been well thought out with pockets, zips and seams in the right places - with running as the focus in the design. With Winter coming up, we need every reason to get out of the warmth and into the cold outside. I think some nice threads are enough motivation. Let's get running...

Mid- November, sees the launch of Comme des Garcons latest perfume, titled Comme des Garcons.
The perfume smells amazing. Very feminine.
According to CdG:
' Constructed linearly, the fragrance opens with the man made organic composites of aldehydes and safraleine, opening up with hawthorns and derivations of lilac, before exploding in a riot of flower oxides, then finally succumbing to notes of industrial glue and brown scotch tape with hints of musk and stryax. Purposefully taking a bottle that has been disqualified from existence and purposefully giving it its right to exist.    '    via DSM Paper

Note:
You can see the above link in HD by clicking on Youtube, where you will be able to view the text by Ariella Wolens and Spencer Noble - definitely worth the read!

Tiddly Inks Fabulous Inky Friday

I just love the new Fall Queen digi at Tiddly Inks Shop! Little Mavis looks so cute perched atop those pumpkins and I just couldn't resist her. She's colored with Copics and cut with Nesties. The DP is from an old DCWV Fall stack. For embellies I used some burlap ribbon and layered card stock and more DP on top. The leaves and acorn are wooden (so cute) and were found in the button section of J's. Flowers are Prima and that's it. Love that she can be used for any Fall occasion (and there's a new Christmas version of Mavis for all you kitty lovers now too. WooHoo!) Pop by the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog for more inspiration from our Tiddly fans and DT.

ALL THINGS GROW WITH LOVE

just to have a little fun with the
FLOWERS & FRIENDSHIP.
one of the new releases for next month from the
you can pre-order any of her stamp sets by clicking here.
i decided to use one of the sentiments from the above collection for a halloween card. if you are one of my regular followers, you already know i sometimes like to twist and spin things around a bit.
a small example of it is my project for today.

All things grow with love
4.25" x 5.5"
hehe
---even little monsters grow with love---
he is from mini monsters and you will find him on page #48 and he is image #3 on the overlay.
he is already 3 inches tall---and he is growing a boo boo... i mean a mustache, (wink-wink)

all these pretty papers i believe i got them at acm but i am not 100% sure.
the were already cut in three different sizes.

my mini monster also grows eating bats and ghosts...hehe
i bet you already noticed i did some paper piercing in some areas. the tombs border is from martha stewart. the embossed bottom strip was done with a cuttlebug folder called diamond plate.

i did the inside of the card and look at the awesome bat. how cool is that?

oh...and i stamped the corner of the envelope.

phew!
finally the whole card
BOO!

thanks so much for stopping by.
i really appreciate it- it means a lot to me.

one more thing....
this is a cute gable box and to me it looks perfect as a lunchbox:
i used the LUNCHBOX THOUGHTS and the SPOOK-A-LICIOUS set for the spider.
have a super great week!

MY PINK STAMPER NOVEMBER RELEASES WHOLE PROJECT SNEAK PEEK

sunday
i am at home listening to the word of God on the radio since i do not go to church any longer.
then, i have miss LULU at my knees wanting MORE ATTENTION...if that is possible :D---she is scratching my leg and pushing me so i pick her up and play...oh my! and did i tell you she follows me every where and i mean every where. i move, she moves. i turn around and she is right there with me turning around too. i read somewhere pugs CRAVE human attention.  Lulu has that craving plus more cravings:  food and some expensive jerky treats.
she is a pig PUG indeed, lol---
BUT, i love her so-so-so much.
i also have to do laundry and cleaning today, but i am going to wait on it for a bit. instead, i decided to work on this mini card from the LUNCHBOX THOUGHTS from MY PINK STAMPER NOVEMBER RELEASE. i am telling you this again and is not because i am on her design team but this release is another HUGE one. some of them have so many stamps in one set and,  practically for pennies. did i say pennies? what are pennies?, lol...well, i should say a few bucks worth every penny. and they are so super cute and for all type of occasions.
i made today this pug pig (*&*) today to share with you another sentiment of the LUNCHBOX THOUGHTS clear stamp set and it has its own mini envelope too.

Hugs & Kisses
the piggie is from paper dolls for everyday cut at 2.53" x 2.02" (according to the gypsy). the square where the pig is welded with a small tab are from dear george and basic shapes.
a few more pics of LULU, hehe...i mean the piggie from paper dolls, lol
here is part of the envelope from the wild card cut at 6.6" x 5.28" (real size dial) to fit the mini card.

*******************************

ALSO from LUNCHBOX THOUGHTS -
(my pink stamper clear stamps november new release)

You are the Greatest Kid Ever
2.25" x 4"
tag
i got myself the nate's abcs at joanne's for $30 a while ago but did not have time to use it until today. this is where the goat  came from cut at a tiny 1.46" high and all its layers. too cute!

a few more pictures below
the sentiment you already know is from the LUNCHBOX THOUGHTS set but the stars are from another of my pink stamper collection of stamps called SCHOOL DAYS.
you can find both HERE and the rest of her fabulous collection of stamps and also where to buy them.

hope i am getting your ideas running.
holidays are coming and you need to start adding them to your wish list, lol

more to come as time permits but in the meantime, keep checking
because you never know what she has up her sleeve---wink-wink.

MY PINK STAMPER DESIGN TEAM MONTHLY PROJECT

another month flew by and here we are sharing with you another monthly project using the awesome stamps from my pink stamper. i am using "winter treats & sayings" stamps set.

i will now introduce you to
 mr.g
---mr. gingerbread that is---
card is standard a2 size
4.25" x 5.5"
isn't mr. g so handsome and yummy at the same time?---;)

my pink stamper ---aka robyn--- has released some many different stamp sets with some many different themes you really won't need anything else in your stash ;P. this one i used---winter treats & sayings--is full of great sentiments/phrases for winter and/or the christmas holidays ahead of us.

look how beautiful these fonts are too. love them!
"WARM WINTER WISHES AND GINGERBREAD KISSES"
how cool is that?
the base for the sentiment is a piece of chipboard i covered with patterned paper and distressed a bit. two tiny copper brads were added to each side.

i found mr. gingerbread hiding in an older cartridge. i found him in stretch your imagination. i only used the blackout feature at 2.40" to properly fit him on front of the sack of flour look alike, lol. i used joys of the season for that one...it is actually a frame.
the big romantic? eyes are a rub-on from sizzix i had like forever and never used them before. they were so very nice and easy to transfer despite being in my stash for a few years now, :D

so what do you think about mr. g?
you just can't help but to love him at first sight, right? lol ---what about the sentiment?-- i say they were made for each other, hehe

i want to invite you stop at robyn's aka my pink stamper and see the whole post and enjoy the work of my team mates.
this is my pink stamper link and clicking it will take you to her site.
it is highly recommended because i assure you do not want to miss any of it.

now,
i want to thank you for stopping by my blog.
i certainly hope i have inspired you with this my pink stamper monthly design team monthly project:

BBTB2 Happy Hauntings Witch Challenge

Happy Monday! Just one week to go until the big day and I've LOTS to do still. (Make that EVERYTHING to do still, I'm such a procrastinator and I've been a bit preoccupied! LOL) This week my dear friend and MSU alumni sister Susan has chosen the witch from Happy Hauntings for our BBTB2 challenge. I wasn't quite sure what to do with her until I was shopping in Target and saw some honeycomb tabletop decorations that reminded me of something I had as a child. That, combined with the Whimsical Wednesday challenge of Halloween Home Decor, led to this project.

Nothing fancy here. I just cut the witch and layers at 5 1/2 inches twice (once flipped) so it would be two sided. I kept the colors to a minimum to hopefully capture more of a vintage feel and embossed the cape and broom. The black layer is popped on both sides, as is the broom. Athough the orange base is also 2 layers, I should have cut it in chipboard for strength as she is adhered to the honeycomb by her foot and just the bottom of her dress. I wanted to be able to close the honeycomb for storage so I glued one side together (with the witch in place) and used some removeable tape and a paper clip underneath for the other. "Happy Halloween" is also from Happy Hauntings and I added tabs to it so it would just fit in the slots of the honeycomb for display instead of gluing it permanently.

I dug out the original hanging decoration to show you. (Couldn't get a pic so it's hanging from the cat pole but won't be staying there. LOL) This is truly vintage from the 50's and is a little worse for wear. Wish I'd been a bit more creative with my cut and I will probably try again as I'm not so pleased with it. I was trying to follow the challenge exactly, but I think I could have found a more vintage looking witch. My FAVE decor item I've made using a witch is HERE. I have trouble doing a second project when I've made one I love and I'm in a bit of a creative slump as I'm trying to get back on track with healthy eating and exercise (and no WINE!) to make up for the year and a half (or more) of crafting 24/7 and I'm sort of a crabby BI---, I mean WITCH! Sorry! My DT siters have done a much better job than I, so be sure to check out the rest of the DT at BBTB2 and we'd love it if you'd play along. Yo uhave 2 weeks to complete the challenge, please make it a new project and link back to BBTB2 and you may use any witch from any cart. I'm also entering it in the Getting Cricky Orange and Black (and only one other color) challenge.

THE WITCH---A BITTEN BY THE BUG 2 CHALLENGE

what a nice image we have this week for the challenge. you will find it in the happy hauntings cartridge but as you might know already, if you do not own that cart, you can use any other that has a similar image.
come on!!! and have fun with us.
this project will be perfect for this halloween and many more to come.
i made a home decor/wall art project. it is so darn cute you are going to love it.

The Witch
6" x 9"
misses witch here was cut at 3"
and can you believe i do not have black glitter?
i was so upset because i wanted to cover her gown and cape with glitter (and did not want to go to the store), so i added some sparkles with a silver glitter pen i own.

i added some dimension as you can observe here.
(it looked like too flat on the frame without the foam tape).

these pretty papers were cut as follows to cover the 6 x 9" chipboard frame:
from the top: 3- 2 x 3"
center: 2- 1 x 3" in each side and the middle one is 4 x 3" (where the witch is)
and then 3 more pieces 2 x 3" for the bottom part.

added some rhinestones, some bats border, the crop-a-dile made the holes for the purple brads and black wire was used as the hanger. of course i inked every piece and added some ribbon to the wire.
below is the complete project:
please join us if you have time.
click HERE to see what my dear teammates have made with this image from happy hauntings and to add your project.
Remember these challenges, at Bitten by the Bug, run for two weeks.

Macabre Monday Movie Madness:Pumpkinhead

This week at HDH the challenge is to create a project inspired in some way by the B Horror fick Pumpkinhead. Okay, I'll admit it. This one slipped by me. I Googled it and the dude looked nothing like a pumpkin to me, but I had this fab digi stamp of the same name by Rick St.Dennis so of course I HAD to use him. He's pretty darn creepy himself, no? Looks like he's about to stomp the crap out of that smiling jack-o-lantern. I've added a "lucky" 7 , cut with my Cricut from the Happy Hauntings cartridge in order to play along with the SBS 12 Days of Halloween (7 pumpkins glowing) and embossed it with a Sizzix folder. The sentiment was done with my Dymo Label Maker. (I'd be feeling luckier if I never ran into this guy on a dark street. LOL)

I've colored this "gourd-geous" guy with Copics and fussy cut him out. Love the detail of this image. The Minions have a fabulous assortment of projects this week, some even featuring the DUDE himself, so be sure to have a look and don't forget our Wretched Wednesday when Creepy Glo posts her fab stuff and announces the winners from the previous week.

Late Post on FRIEZE Art Fair

London, October

.

Since it was last week, I was hesitant to post on the happenings at Frieze Art Fair in London this year.

The location is more than amazing, right in the midst of Regents Park, as it is great to walk through the beautiful park and what they call Sulpture Park. A nice welcome...

They do have a great amount of galleries exhibiting, local and international, including Spruth Magers, Peres Projects and Stuart Shave Modern Art.

Although I wasn't too impressed with the event on a whole, there were some great exhibitions and galleries at the Annual Event that should be shared.

The atmosphere is also something to comment on. It is more of a Tradeshow, and as a member of the Press, I should have expected to view the Fair differently to say, a buyer.
It seems every attendee is either an art critic, or a professional photographer - which makes for a very interesting crowd.

It was nice to walk in and first thing you see is a great selection of books. Thanks Koenig Books.

Lucky PDF was fun to watch and chill at. They had Schnapps for everyone (YES) in conjunction with PELES EMPIRE works.

Do Ho Suh
Cause & Effect, 2007

Lehmann Maupin Gallery, NYC

Raymond Pettibon

Contemporary Fine Arts, Berlin

Pawel Althamer

Foksal Gallery Foundation, Warsaw

There were nice seating areas to rest and eat. Gail's food was well priced. Good one Gail.

All in all, I think it is a Fair for those 'interested in art once per year', to see art once per year.
It is nice to see the International Galleries, but the vast majority are galleries in London.

Get out and visit the galleries right near you....

Elms Lesters Gallery
Currently exhibiting the works of ADAM Neate

Hayward Gallery
Currently exhibiting the first major retrospective of the work of GEORGE CONDO

and as reported in QUOTATION magazine, go visit Peckham's Emerging Art Scene.
Galleries there to visit:

Hannah Barry Gallery
New Gallery London
Off Modern

.....

Held in Regents Park, there were some great sculptures amongst the beautiful gardens.
