Dawgs spring game......Purple vs. White

fun times. Locker looked the same. Nick Montana looks promising but small. Keith Price looks great. cant wait for him. RB Demitrius Bronson was killing it. ran really well.

Marmot

the Marmot fairy came by the redmond gym the other day and i was super psyched to aquire this pretty amazing soft shell ROM jacket and a really nice Mica jacket.
this is a great combo set up. the ROM is a great layer for the rock climbing and with the windstopper it was great as a single layer while on my bike today. fully adjustable and really rad red. the Mica jacket literally rolls up and (as Ryan Spivey put it) fits in your mouth. i havent tried this yet but i did roll it up super small to fit into the pocket of my ROM jacket. on the way home from the Dawgs spring game it was pissing rain. i threw on the Mica over the ROM and was totally dry even while poppin wheelies through the u district on my bicycle. the hoods were big enough to fit over my helmet too. wonderful.
thanks to Ryan Spivey with marmot. these are great jackets.

Darren Henderson // Gorker Gallery

Last thursday i popped in to see Melbourne artist Darren's opening night at Gorker Gallery. His show of 270 pieces was set up in the view of the globe across the whole wall. Great show!!

Luke and Lauren did a great job during the show, there was a consistent placement of red dots on each owl and Mikolai was an extremely keen, yet undecided buyer! So many great pieces.

WILD CARD WITH LISA/HEART

I want to apologize again for being so late with the Wild Card for today. Life gets is the way and you know how it is. All is well on this neck of the woods and I am happy to present you the
Heart Card
This card is # 36 in our series and on page #67 of the handbook.

My Heart Card
4-1/4 x 5- 1/2 inches
Standard A2 size
The only image I used from this card was the ICON cut. I had another thing planned but did not use it, lol.
The card base is really thick and I bought it at a recent craft/stamping show near my town. It is from Marco's Paper, they had a booth over and I got a 300 pack of assorted ones.
The patterned paper is from MME and the other cardstock is from American Crafts. The sentiment was stamped using one of My Pink Stamper clear stamps set called Simply Sweet Occasions and the border is from a Martha Stewart border punch. I used pop-dots to raise three of the hearts and inked most of it.
This is the inside and I repeated the same papers I used for the front.

I still have to make the envelope but this is all I had time to do today.
I hope you like it and Lisa will be posting hers tomorrow.
Like I said: Life does gets in the way sometimes but I know you all understand.

Thanks for stopping by and Thanks for your concerns and patience.

Love you all!!!

Oh Alice! Challenge 10 Queen of Tarts

Wow this week is flying by! I sort of took some days off from crafting because of the gorgeous weekend and my birthday and I feel like I'm playing "catch up". This week at Oh Alice! they are celebrating the Queen's tarts and asked for food on our cards. I made the Mad Hatter's Cake using my Cottage Cutz die, available at The Scrapping Cottage. Doesn't it look YUMMY!? I've always wanted a REAL cake like this for some occasion but for now a paper one will have to do. I loved the colors on the packaging for this die so I just mostly copied those. I cut the whole thing out of white card stock and colored the pieces with my Copics (except for the little roses where I used a textured pink card stock wth gel pen for detail.) The layers and roses are popped for dimension. Because of the strong colors I decided to use black and white for the rest of the card. the background embossing is the Diamonds in the Rough Cuttlebug folder. (I thought it had an "Alicey" kind of feel to it). The sentiment is from the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday card making combo. Hope you like.

WILD CARD WITH LISA

Bah! Humbug! Pretty in Pink

Well I have to say this week's Bah! Humbug! challenge through me for a loop. The challenge is "Pretty in Pink" and I thought "oh, won't that be fun?" until I started looking for paper. I did have a few DP's that fit the bill, but they didn't coordinate with any other pinks I had so I finally gave up and decided to try something new. I'd never cut my Poinsettia Frameabilities so I cut and embossed 2 parts of the frame and airbrushed with my Copics (much to my DH's delight since he bought me the system and really nice air compressor for Christmas and I haven't used it much...yet.) I matted it in silver foil card stock and added some silver adhesive beads, ribbon, and metallic sentiment sticker. My only problem is it doesn't really look like a Christmas card to me. Oh well, it's too late in the game to start over.

seriously

i would like to also suggest, that if you are so hot, that you need to take off your shirt to show yourself off, then dont wear jeans to climb in. this is a great look though, the shirt off, huge jeans look, really nice. better yet, top it off with shirt off, huge jeans and stocking cap/beanie. that is really the look to go for.
we all know what you are doing, so please stop it. it isnt working.

The Cuttlebug Spot Favorite Flower (and Happy Birthday to ME!)

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we're celebrating our favorite flowers. I have so many, it was hard to choose, but seeing that it's Spring and I had an Impressabilites embossing (what do you call 'em, stencils?) from my dear friend Glenda (Thanks hon!) along with a tulip Borderabilities (also from Glenda) I hadn't used I thought "Tulips it is!"

I wasn't quite sure what to do with these thin metal filigree plates so I bopped over to Susie B's Heartprints Gallery (Shes by far the embossing QUEEN!) to see how to use them in the Cuttlebug. She had all sorts of recommendations as to paper and whatnot, but I just followed her Cuttlebug sandwich guide of A Plate, B Plate, Spellbinders tan embossing mat (you really do need the thin squishy mat for this, plumber's gasket is too hard) , paper, Impressabilitie, and B Plate. You'll also need some shims to get a deeper emboss. I used 2 of the cardboards that come with my Cuttlebug Folders. As for card stock, I just used the inexpensive Wausau stuff you get a WalMart.

I really love how this turned out, especially after chalking. It doesn't photograph as well as it looks IRL. I decided to keep it simple and do a monogram card using the Borderabilitie across, and labels 9 as a base for the "D" that I cut on my Cricut from Lyrical Letters Loop Dee Loo font. The small tulip I added is from the Spellbinders Tulip Pendant. I really think it turned out soft and pretty and I'm sure I'll be making more of these. Be sure to stop by The Cuttlebug Spot Garden to see al of the beautiful creations by my DT sisters. And please play along for a chance to win a $50 (WooHoo!) gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp! But remember, you need to submit a "new" card and it must have some type of dry embossing. I'm a bit bummed today, because after several days of fabulous weather, it's dreary and rainy and it's my birthday. At the moment the old "April showers bring May flowers doesn't cut it with me. LOL At least dinner at Boulevard in San Francisco will cheer me up! YUM!

Vintage Cami 1944

It is amazing what you can find in book shops. I came across a 1964 Stitchcraft and they seemed to be just as interested in vintage designs as we are today. Here is a beautiful knitted cami from an age when people had the time and inclination to knit such things. I think though given the shortage of materials during WWII and especially this late in the war, it was something of an aspirational design even then.

WILD CARD WITH LISA/FATHER

It has been raining in this part of the world and even
I tried my best to get good photos they are not the best.

Well, welcome back to another week of Wild Card Cards.

Today we have the Father's Card
#35 in our series and you can find this one on page #66 of the cartridge handbook.
I made this one when I first got the cartridge for my husband on father's day but I wasn't too pleased with it but then I was just a beginner-beginner. I am no pro but I have learned a bit here and there and lots more to experiment, lol.
This one is a new card I just made yesterday.

My Father's Card
4.75 inches
The base of the card is made using Kraft cardstock from Hobby Lobby and the patterned paper is another
oldie from DCWV stack. The stamp is from My Pink Stampers Sweet Occasions Set.
As you can see I used the same patterned paper to cut the cattails and grass from the same Father's car but I also used  a Martha Stewart punch for the green grass.
I also used stickles on the grass and I inked most of the card front.
I popped the fish for more dimension and added the twine glueing it with Scotch's adhesive. It worked well with the twine. I was going to add a real twig to use as a fishing pole but everything was wet and it wasn't gluing down :( ...............I might add it another day tough.
Here is a better close-up. I did not glue the cattails/grass all the way down so I could have the effect of real grass as you can see better on this photo.
This is the inside and I also added stickles to the fish and just to the Father's word.
This the back of the envelope and I used construction paper again.
I took many photos trying to compensate for the lack of good light.

Lisa's Father' Card
We both used the fish as a mere coincidence.

This is Lisa's BLOG,
if you would like to see her work just click on the link.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this
Wild Card with Lisa.

WELCOME TO THE LAGUNA WOODS BOOK FESTIVAL "Mind Bloggeling Internet" Presentation

BBTB2 Sentimentals Bee Challenge and Blog Hop

Welcome friends, it's the last Monday of the month so it's BLOG HOP time at BBTB2! It was my turn to choose the challenge this week and I chose the pretty bee from Sentimentals. I'd been dying to use this cartridge and figured that if my teamies didn't have it, there were plenty of other great bees to choose from. How exciting this challenge turned out to bee! The inspiration is amazing at BBTB2 with so many adorable bees buzzing around. Bee sure to check them all out. If you've come from Beth's blog you're on the right track. If not, start HERE and follow the hop for lots of yummy blog candy. My shaped card uses the accompanying sentiment from Sentimentals welded in Design Studio, along with flowers from Walk in my Garden.
To add extra color, I cut the sentiment 3 times and popped the layers slightly offset within the shadow base. The bee hovering over the large flower is on a wire spring for some movement and added dimension.
For texture, the small flowers were embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The larger pink flowers were cut out of Bazzill Dotted Swiss card stock. The black and white polka dot is Bo Bunny Double Dot. Lotsa dots goin' on here. Adhesive beads took the place of doodling. Now on to my fabulously talented dear friend and DT sister x 3, Margie's blog, but before you do, please leave a comment to be entered into the drawing for a $30.00 gift certificate from Custom Crops. I'll be announcing the winner on Friday, April 30th.
